Pacific Northwest Band The Backwater Savants play their own acoustic style of music, they do both cover and original compositions by singer/songwriters John Coyle and Clarke Ong drawing from Bluegrass, Country, Blues, and Rock and Roll.
The Band features members John Coyle, on vocals, mandolin, resonator guitar/dobro, banjo, and harmonica, who along with guitarist and fellow singer/songwriter Clarke Ong, formed the band in May of 2009. They met bassist Simon Way soon thereafter who joined them to round out the bottom end on the double bass, upright bass, doghouse bass, call it whatever you please.
You can also call our music all the above mentioned or American, Roots, Celtic, Cajun, Reggae, Acoustic Jazz, Rockies Bluegrass or whatever genre you please as long as call or contact us for a live concert performance at your festival, event, celebration, gig, establishment, function, or whatever you would like to call it. We deliver a very lively show that's fun for all, young and old alike. Our upbeat music and harmony bring you a highly entertaining, humorous, collective and connective musical experience from.

Studio Update

The Backwater Savants are planning a return to the studio to remix their original recording of, Tule Weed Ruckus, to add banjo parts.
Then to begin to record their new CD with 12 new songs! 

A Banjo in the Band!!

Good news ya'll, John is learning to play banjo and has come a long way in just a couple months so that should add another great dynamic to the Savants sound. whooohooo!

We recently played one of our best shows at the Inland Norwest Bluegrass Association showcase on Feb. 18, 2012 and will soon be post video of thst show here on our site.

Post Falls Days 2012

We are looking forward to be playing at Post Falls Days at Quemlin Park next to the Spokae River on June 02, 2012 at 12 pm to 2pm
